Foreign Trained Veterinarians Discussion Group
Often there are questions specific to NAVLE candidates who went to non-accredited veterinary schools. This forum is designed as a place to share questions regarding the NAVLE with the NBVME staff and view answers to questions from other candidates. This is not the venue for information about educational equivalency programs (such as ECFVG or PAVE). Information about those programs may be found here.
Dear Anita,
Thank you very much for your information.

| Dear Dr. Yoo,
Yes, you can have your NAVLE score transferred to other licensing boards through the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (www.aavsb.org). Many people have this sort of a situation, because employment offers and family situations can have a person moving from where they originally intended to become licensed. I do not know about specific disadvantages or if you would have to start the licensure process over.
Since you are asking specifically about the state of Washington, the best plan is for you to call them directly (360-236-4838) for that information.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need anything else!
Sincerely,
Anita, NBVME staff

| Hi there,
As a foreign veterinarian, I've completed the licensing process through the Washington State Board including initial application, NAVLE and ECFVG certification but not the State Board law exam so far. However, it is very likely for me to start practicing in other states not in WA now.
Can I transfer my NAVLE score to other states without completing licensing in WA? Would there be any disadvantages from doing so? (I mean, generally, would it be better to finish getting license from the initial board and apply for another one in another state?) Would I have to start the licensing process in WA all over again when I want to relocate to WA later?
I looked for information on the Board website, but I couldn't find any helpful. So I leave this message here.
Thank you very much.
Yoo
