Veterinary Clinical Skills Assessment (VCSA)

The NBVME's Veterinary Clinical Skills Assessment (VCSA) is a two day hands-on practical examination used by the PAVE program as an option for PAVE Step 4. The VCSA is given at Cedar Valley College in Dallas, Texas. A pilot test of the VCSA, involving 6 PAVE candidates and 10 reference candidates (5 senior students and 5 recent graduates from accredited schools) was conducted October 15-16, 2005. The VCSA was administered January 7-8, 2006, April 22-23, 2006, January 5-6, 2007, January 5-6, 2008, January 10-11, 2009, and January 9-10, 2010. 

The next administration of the VCSA will be January 8-9, 2011.

 

VCSA Application Process

Candidates apply for the VCSA through the AAVSB office. A VCSA Candidate Bulletin is provided to applicants when they register for the examination.
